GAUTIER D'AGOTY (Arnaud-Eloi). Two prints... - Lot 167 - Kâ-Mondo
GAUTIER D'AGOTY (Arnaud-Eloi). Two prints taken from the Cours complet d'anatomie. [Nancy, 1773]. 55 × 40 cm. each (cut along the board; wormholes). Set of two plates engraved on copper and printed in four-color process, according to the process invented by Jacob-Christoph Le Blon and developed by Jacques-Fabien Gautier d'Agoty. 1. Plate [XII] showing the head, mouth, larynx. 2. Plate [XV] showing the pelvis, the lumbar spine and the diaphragm. Engraver and naturalist, son and pupil of Jacques-Fabien Gautier-Dagoty, Arnaud-Eloi (1741-1771) practiced like his father and brothers the process of engraving printed in color on four plates prepared at the cradle. These plates are excerpts from the book: Cours complet d'anatomie peint et gravé en couleurs naturelles, by A.-É. Gautier d'Agoty explained by M. Jadelot. Nancy: J.-B.-H. Leclerc, 1773. The work consists of 15 plates by A.-E. Gautier d'Agoty, preceded by IV-25 p. of explanations by Nicolas Jadelot (1738-1793), a physician, who taught at the faculty of Pont-à-Mousson.
